SUMMARY:Yankee Chapter Pre-Test Clinic
DESCRIPTION:The clinic will start at 9 a.m. We’ll be doing field and water work for dogs and puppies of all levels. Please note\, testing dogs train first. Once the testing dogs have had their chance for field and water we will move on to all other handlers/dogs. The Pre-Test clinic in Dresden has always been one of our most popular clinics. While we do our best to estimate the number of birds needed\, sometimes the crowd exceeds our expectations. Be sure to get to the training grounds before 9:00 and sign up for your birds as soon as you arrive. \nDon’t forget to bring water\, stakes or crates\, something to provide shade\, and…most important…bug spray!\nIf your dog is in heat or may be coming into heat\, please tell the sign-up staff. We must ask you to run last to minimize distraction to the other dogs. Your understand- ing is hugely appreciated.\nPlease keep your dog on a leash!\nEven if your dog is mellow and under control\, someone else’s might not be. We do not want a confrontation or problem. Unless your dog is working in the field\, exercise area\, or water\, please make sure he or she is either on a leash\, chained to a stake or in a crate. That includes walking from your vehicle to the starting point for a field run. Please adhere to our leash policy not just at the fields but on your way to and from the water\, as well.\nNot your normal chapter!\nDirections\nTake I-295 to Exit 43. Go east on Route 197 through Richmond. Turn right onto Route 128. Go a mile or so then watch for signs and big green barn! (The field is just after Eastern River heading north and just before Eastern River heading south.)

SUMMARY:Yankee Chapter Aims Rules Clinic
DESCRIPTION:Aims & Rules Clinic\nThe Aims & Rules Clinic is an educational tool developed by NAVHDA to help dog owners and handlers understand the testing system. The clinics are conducted by designated NAVHDA Senior Judges and Clinic Leaders. Aims & Rules Clinics cover a variety of topics over two days\, including informal classroom style instruction on the NAVHDA philosophy\, test mechanics\, and the scoring system for each test. \nParticipants will also take to the field and water to judge and score dogs being run in a mock test setting. After each section the participants and the Clinic Leader will discuss the dog’s performance\, where the performance would fall in the NAVHDA scoring system\, and any strengths of weaknesses in training and handling. Many clinic leaders also include helpful tips and tricks on handling dogs in NAVHDA tests. \n\n\n\n\nWho Should Attend and Why?\n\nPeople with their first dog will see how other dogs work and gain insight into what their dog is doing and why. This will help to develop their pup’s talents and improve performance.\nNovice handlers will learn how NAVHDA evaluates versatile dogs\, and thus will be better prepared to handle their dogs in a test.\nExperienced handlers will gain a deeper\, more technical knowledge of how the team of dog and handler are judged.\nBreeders will learn what to look for in their breeding stock and their progeny\, and how to use NAVHDA records obtained through our Search Test Records service for selective breeding.\nAspiring NAVHDA Judges are required to attend an Aims & Rules Clinic and is one of the first steps in our Apprentice Judge Program. For more information please go to https://www.navhda.org/?s=Aims\n\n\n\n\n\nTo Register: \n\nReview Clinic Details linked below\nComplete Application linked below\, and mail along with your clinic fee to the chapter contact\n\nChapter Contact: Kathleen Weller \n39 Lisbon Road\, Brunswick\, Maine 04011\, phone: (865)274-6843\, email: katred07@gmail.com \nYankee Chapter Aims & Rules Clinic Details \nAims & Rules Clinic Application
