2026 Maine Sportsman’s Show — Yankee Chapter NAVHDA Recap

Yankee Chapter NAVHDA presented four lively demonstrations at the 2026 Maine Sportsman’s Show — a day of impressive training, unexpected chaos (including a free‑flying chukar), and plenty of laughs.

Show Highlights

The Yankee Chapter of NAVHDA put on four energetic dog training shows at the 2026 Maine Sportsman’s Show, drawing standing‑room‑only crowds for several performances. Attendees packed the hall to watch handlers and their dogs demonstrate training techniques, hunting skills, and excellent teamwork.

Memorable Moments

  • The great chukar escape: One chukar slipped free of its harness and took to the air, circling the hall and electrifying the audience and dogs. Handlers and volunteers quickly and safely corralled the adventurous bird amid laughter and gasps.
  • Concession caper: A mischievous dog made a fast dash toward the exit, apparently intent on revisiting the french fry stand. Quick reflexes from the crowd averted a fries‑related incident.
  • Minor chaos, big smiles: Aside from a couple of broken eggs and these lighthearted incidents, the demonstrations went smoothly, buoyed by the crowd’s good humor and the team’s quick work.

What It Showed

Despite the minor chaos, the events highlighted the skill, dedication, and camaraderie of Yankee Chapter handlers and their dogs. Between polished demonstrations and spontaneous moments, it was a day full of impressive performances and plenty of laughs — exactly the kind of story attendees will be talking about until next year.
